Ecological Surveys

We have experience of ecological surveys, from basic ecological scoping surveys, botanical assessments and ecological appraisal work. Our consultant ecologists are trained surveyors, able to identify a wide range of species, from a variety of habitats.

Time of year is important; some wildlife species hibernate, others migrate and flowering plants are difficult to identify when not in flower or when their winter absence cannot be adequately accounted for. There is a small window during the year and it is best to plan ecological surveys as early as possible.

Forecasting the need for ecology surveys is very important when applying for planning permission, as Local Authorities are required by Planning Policy Statement 9 (PPS9), to base their decisions on baseline information ; environmental characteristics of the site, presence or potential for any protected species and their habitats. If not available, contact us to ensure that your planning application is not rejected and to avoid delays; this will save you time and money.
