Breeam Rating

In the Code for Sustainable Homes and Breeam Assessments, there is a Breeam rating system awarding credit points for ecology and land use for a range of development types. The Code for Sustainable Homes covers all new homes. Different Breeam assessments cover other various sectors; Breeam Education for schools, Breeam for prisons, Breeam for retail units, Breeam for courts and for industrial units. Breeam ecology points or eco credits are credit points awarded in the ecology and land use section for protecting the ecology of a site. That is, protecting ecological features, protected species and biodiversity management as part of the breeam rating recommendations and CSH ecology reports.

If there are mature trees on your site, or rare, protected and unusual species, for example, Great Crested newts, protection and mitigation measures will be required and habitat enhancement plans or biodiversity action plans need to be drawn up as part of the planning application process. A Suitably Qualified Ecologist (SQE) should be used for this work. Undertaking these ecology reports and mitigation measures using an SQE will lead to additional eco credits being awarded for your scheme. Landvision undertakes this SQE work.
